Points of Presence
SkyOnline has points of presence in Latin America’s leading countries and world wide network access from its POP in the NAP of the Americas (Miami – USA). It also connects to local interconnection points (NAPs) in order to route traffic in each country.
Terrestrial Network
The regional SkyOnline network unites points of presence (POPs) in various Latin American Countries and the United States, using submarine fiber networks and an interconnection center in the Miami node (USA).
This is the interconnection point where the SkyOnline network connects with other global networks to exchange traffic.
SkyOnline is co-owner of the MAYA-1, a submarine cable that connects Central America with Florida (USA), and positions the company as the best option for clients with operations in the region.
To achieve the highest level of availability in the remaining countries, the POPs are connected through independent cables such as GBX and TIWS, among others.
Satellite Network
SkyOnline has its own robust satellite network, which allows the company to provide access facilities to the network of Data, Internet and Telephony services from its Hub in Mexico, with a satellite footprint covering all Latin America’s Spanish speaking area.
This satellite network offers the following advantages:
- Flexible coverage
- Fast set up in any location
- Geographic independence
- Highly effective cost/benefit solution.
- “Full mesh” connectivity, which allows connecting multiple points with one satellite jump
SkyOnline’s satellite solutions allows access to isolated geographic locations or dispersed, low-density rural areas.
Using state of the art satellite transmission technology, SkyOnline operates a wide network of VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminals), that facilitates the provision of Voice and Internet services to locations that other solutions cannot reach or will not reach because of the high costs involved.
Local Networks
SkyOnline has developed metropolitan networks in Buenos Aires (Argentina), Cordoba (Argentina) Panama City, using high capacity wireless technologies based on licensed frequencies of 10.5 GHz (LMDS), 23 GHz, 38 GHz y 2.5 GHz (MMDS) and supported by a redundant fiber-optic backbone that covers the cities’ most important points.
Likewise, from its Network Operation Center (NOC), the company manages the local networks in all the regional countries where it maintains a presence.
